The port of Syros is situated in Ermoupolis, on the western side of the island. Due to its location within the capital town, several establishments and places of interest lie in proximity to it.

The port receives ferries year-round daily, yet ferry itineraries are more frequent during summer to accommodate the thousands of holidaymakers.
Ferries connect the island with Athens (Piraeus and Lavrio), Macedonia (Kavala), other islands of the Cyclades (Mykonos, Paros, etc.), and a few Eastern Aegean Islands, like Chios and Samos.
