Syros International Film Festival

Jul 18, 2016 — Aug 01, 2016 • Category: Events

From Thursday July 18th to Monday August 1st, Syros International Film Festival (SIFF) will take place and amaze all those who love cinematography and especially, those who love independent films.
Founded in 2013, this International Film Festival promises to captivate again its audience. The programme of the Festival is filled with various films and events and it is composed thanks to different artists that joined their forces. This year’s programme focuses on different types of films and especially, on films that are underrepresented in mainstream film festivals. Documentaries, experimental films, narrative fiction, drama, film noir, underground, realism, surreal, silent movies, having full length or not, are few of the film types and genres that are going to be shown. Also, thematic screenings, parallel exhibitions, talks and workshops will be held during the festival.
Another plus, is the beautiful location of this festival. Syros, located in Cyclades, seems far from the film industry. It is picturesque, peaceful and a wonderful holiday destination that it is easily accessible by Ferry, either from Piraeus or other islands. The festival is held not only in Hermoupolis, the capital of Syros, but also in other spaces around Syros. Some spaces are traditional, but others are not; they are unique, unconventional and repurposed. Yet, they are all spectacular, particularly during mid-summer.
Tickets are low and you may purchase them individually or you may purchase a general pass. Tickets will be available for sale from July 26h in the center of Hermoupolis on Miaouli Square. For more info about tickets and the festival’s programme, check this: syrosfilmfestival.org
