Syros Half Marathon 2015

On Sunday, June 14th 2015, the Municipality of Syros, in cooperation with Sportevent.gr, are organizing Syros Half Marathon road race, an exciting racing event that commemorates the historical figure of Demetrius Vikelas, the first president of the International Olympic Committee, originating from Syros island. The picturesque capital of the island, Hermoupolis, will host this Half Marathon Race, welcoming participants from Greece and abroad.
The event includes three different races: the classical Half Marathon, a 5000 meters run/walk for adults and a 1,500 meters run for children. All races will start at 17:30. the starting point is the renowned Apollon Theatre and the finishing point is the Town Hall, both in the central square of Hermoupolis. The route of the Half Marathon includes the areas of Megas Gialos, Manna, Azolimnos and Vari.
Syros Half Marathon is a marvelous event, as it offers runners the unique chance to get acquainted with one of the most interesting islands of the Cyclades. Run alongside the stunning coasts of Syros, while passing through narrow streets and whitewashed houses.
