General information

Agios Georgios Beach Sikinos: Most beaches in Sikinos are to be found in coves and sheltered bays. Agios Georgios is located at the eastern coast of Sikinos and is the favourite spot of the locals. It consists of thick golden sand, some pebbles and crystalline waters.

There are no tourist facilities here but you will find some trees for shade. In close distance from the beach there is a nice fish tavern where you can taste some traditional food. The beach is accessed by car or by caique from the port of Alopronoia.

    A Word of Warning
We visited Sikinos in 2009, and had a wonderful relaxed week staying in Alopronia. For a change of scenery we decided to take the bus to Agios Georgios Beach for the day, which is about a 20 minute bus ride away. It's a nice quiet bay with a taverna and a reasonable sand beach. However there is a massive population of wasps on the beach which appear to be attracted to the salt, and swarm around the water, and people sat on the beach. If you go for a swim you'll attract them by the dozen once you get back on the beach. Although we didn't see anyone get stung, and the locals seemed unbothered by them, if you're not keen on insects it's probably best to give this beach a miss. My girlfriend was completely freaked by them, and we had to wait 2 hours for the next bus back!! It seemed however just to be resticted to this beach, and the beach in Alopronia is absolutely fine. Apart from this, Sikinos is a wonderfully peaceful island on which to unwind.
