Location: Exabela Don't miss: Museums guide (free admission dates and other useful info)
Just south of the small settlement of Exabela lies the beautiful Monastery of Panagia Vrysiani. Inside the walls of the monastery lives a small Ecclesiastical Museum that features exhibits from the Byzantine and post-Byzantine era of Sifnos. Visitors can delve into the island’s religious heritage, seeing a collection of ecclesiastical relics and historical items.
Among the museum’s impressive exhibits are the old manuscripts, codified parchments, sacred utensils, and reliquaries. The patriarchal gospel of Gregroy the 5th is a very impressive relic, dated to 1798. Ceremonial chalices, vestments, icons, and an embroidered cape made by the nun Kassiani can also be seen here.
