Cooking Festival 2009

Sep 03, 2009 — Sep 05, 2009 • Category: Events
The Traditional Cuisine Festival that is held in Artemonas village, Sifnos island, will take place on September 3rd-5th this year. The festival includes traditional cooking shows and an exhibition of local products, such as wine, agricultural products and textile. There will also be other events, like music and dance performances. This festival, which lasts for three days, is organized every year to honour Nikos Tselementes (1878-1958), a famous cook who was born in Exabella Sifnos and gained awards in many national and international cooking competitions. He became particularly known in Greece when he published his Cooking Guide in 1910, a 500-page book that sold about 100,000 copies until he died. Even today, this guide is considered as one of the best in Greece.
