Sep 05, 2013 — Sep 07, 2013 • Category: Events
For one more year, the Cultural Association of Sifnos is organizing the Festival of Traditional Cycladic Cooking. This 7th festival on the row is entitled Sifnos Lays the Table and honors again the famous Greek chef Nikolaos Tselementes, who originated from the island. The events will take place in the central square of Artemonas with kiosks of traditional dishes. All Cycladic islands, with not a single exception, will participate in the festival, making it a real feast of Cyclades with cooks, musicians and dance groups as representatives. Guest island outside Cyclades is Skiathos that belongs to the island complex of Sporades.
Events will take place from September 5th to 7th, 2013. On September 5th, local singers and dancers will welcome the other islands with songs of traditional culture. On September 6th, the custom of Sifnian wedding will revive: At 18:00, the wedding parade will depart from the house of Tselementes in Exambela, crossing the main villages of the island and arriving in the square of Artemonas, where musicians from Sifnos, Amorgos, Kythnos, Mykonos, Naxos, Schinoussa and Skiathos will play wedding songs. The festival will close on the night of September 7th with another concert of traditional music.
