Paintings and sculptures of female Greek artists from the collection of the National Art Gallery will be exhibited in Sifnos, from August 10th to September 24th. The exhibition Female Creation: From the Adytum of the National Gallery will take place in the Old School of Kastro, Sifnos island, and will include postwar and contemporary work pieces.

This is a small but remarkable collection of 24 pieces, created by 22 Greek female artists, that constitute only a sample of the 140 works of female artists included in the collections of the National Gallery. Oilcloth, paper, wood, aluminium, stone, plexiglass, iron and fabric are few of the material used for these works, while the themes vary from landscapes and urban environment, still life, portraits, female nude, abstract art, geometric shapes and group portraits.

Most of the 22 artists represent the generation of 1950-1960, but there are also artists from former and following generations. This exhibition is part of the cooperation of the Municipality of Sifnos and the National Gallery. This cooperation started 5 years ago and includes many summer exhibitions on the island.
