Schinoussa Festivals & Cultural Events

As Schinoussa is a small island, there are no big festivals held there. The only festivals to attend on Schinoussa are the religious festivals that locals frequently celebrate to honor their saints.

Religious feasts & festivals

August 15th
On the 15th of August, a celebration is held to honor the name of Panagia(Virgin Mary) at the church of Panagia Akathi, the protector of the island. The feast includes traditional dishes, music, and dance.

March 25th
On 25th of March, is celebrated the Annunciation of Theotokos in Messaria village.

December 6th
On the 6th of December, the celebration of Agios Nikolaos takes place in Mersini. Agios Nikolaos is the protector of the sailors and all Greek islands celebrate his name day in glory.
