Location: Perissa

Diving has become a popular sport in recent times and many tourists prefer to explore the volcanic island by diving underwater. Santorini Dive Center operates from Perissa Beach as well as Akrotiri and has quick access to all good sites, which can be easily reached from the dive station at the small beach located below the cliffs of Akrotiri.

With a highly trained diving crew who can speak several European languages and the latest range of scuba equipment, the center aims to provide the ultimate diving experience on the island. The center is a member of the PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and also a certified member of the Hellenic Professional Diving Association.

As in all diving centers, courses are offered for both certified divers as well as non-divers. Programs for certified divers include wall dives, volcano dives, wreck and cave diving and PADI courses for all levels of certification. Programs for non-divers require no previous experience. "Discover scuba diving" is a popular course among non-divers.

Close to the diving station, there is a protected reef that extends to the volcanic caldera. The shallow waters are teeming with marine life and reveal spectacular underwater scenery which is stunning in color and form. Groupers, colorful sponges, snappers and schools of small and large fish at arm's length provide one of the most exhilarating underwater experiences for the beginner.

The instruction does not take more than 20 minutes, during which time the beginners are briefed on how to use the equipment, the use of underwater hand signals and the basic scuba principles. Following instruction, the beginners can dive into the water right off the beach.

The Dive Center also offers an 8-day tour covering famous historical sites of Athens, with some wine tasting and other leisure activities thrown in for good measure. The tour can be availed by non-divers or experienced divers.

    Nice and safe
I found this centre quite by chance, a lucky chance! It is located at Perissa beach, just below the cliffs, on the southern side of Santorini. It is an easy and quick access, only a few minutes away from the popular spots of the island, but also there is a mini bus transfer service from your hotel. Moreover, the view from the 9 meters fiberglass dive boat is for you to see. You can check out lava formations, marine life and a small passenger ship that sunk in the bay in the past. This center is also a member of Padi, that guarantees the best quality in equipment and service. The equipments is in a good state and sturdy. Generally, I had a good impression, no problem with anything, and the guide was very helpful. I had dived again in the past, but my sister hadn't tried before and she loved it!
