Kasteli Castle in Santorini: Kasteli castle is a splendid Venetian Castle of Santorini, ideally located in the picturesque village of Pyrgos. It is one of the five castles built by the Venetians in the Medieval times, in the late 15th century.
It lies close to the capital city of Fira and also sits at the highest spot of the island. The houses are arranged amphitheatrically surrounding the remains of the Venetian castle (today is known as Kasteli) offering a magnificent view to the sea. Today on the hilltop, right at the center of the village one can see ruins of Kasteli fortress which was conspicuous by its marvelous architectural grandeur. Right next to the fortress is the beautiful church of Agia Theodosia.
