Santorini played host to the honeymoon of Hollywood star Julia Roberts and her husband Daniel Moder. Moder is a popular cameraman and cinematographer. He met Roberts on the sets of The Mexican in 2000.

Married on July 4, 2002, the couple spent their honeymoon in Santorini. On July 4, 2002 Julia and Daniel were married at midnight with fireworks at Julia's approximate 40-acre, 2-3 USD million ranch outside Taos, New Mexico near the community of Arroyo Seco.
