For nearly 30 years, Megaron Gyzi, the cultural centre of Fira in Santorini, has been a significant factor to the cultural development of the island. Through various festivals, concerts, art exhibitions and theatrical plays, Megaro Gyzi has managed to concentrate a great number of locals and tourists. Megaron Gyzi Festival is held in the beautiful island of Santorini every August, since 2007, including a series of art shows which are presented with free entrance. This important contribution on behalf of Megaron Gyzi addresses to all the residents of Santorini and every visitor.

The schedule for this year's festival includes:
01/ 08: Painting Exhibition "Sea Wanderings"
This year, Megaron Gyzi Festival lifts curtain on Monday, August 1st, with "Sea Wanderings", a painting exhibition where the known artist Vaggelis Tzermias introduces his work.

04/08: Musical journey by Zoe Papadopoulou
The musical journey of the festival begins on Thursday, August 4th, with the voice of Zoe Papadopoulou. The singer, who has won the audience for her musical abilities and the collaborations with renowned artists, will now perform for the locals of Santorini songs that speak to the heart. Together with her on the piano is Sasa Papalambrou.

07/08: Concert with "Jazz Duo"
On Sunday, August 7th, the festival proudly presents the awarded "Jazz Duo" with the Norwegian saxophonist Anders Lonne Gronseth and the English pianist David Skinner. Sharing a musical career since 2005, these two musicians will present a wide repertoire from famous jazz artists and pieces from their own discography.

10/08: Three women light up the legend of Frida Kahlo
On Wednesday, August 10th, "three women light up the legend of Frida Kahlo". The mezzo soprano Katerina Roussou, the pianist Alexandra Nomidou and the actress Madga Mavrogianni take part in the musical performance "One other Frida". This performance includes written texts from the journal of Frida's sister presenting the myth of this artist.

13/08: Music Concert "Eros and Soul"
On Saturday, August 13th Vasilis Tsabropoulos will have the chance to make a special appearance in Megaron Gyzi with his work entitled "Eros and Soul". The pianist and composer of international acclaim will take us to a musical journey of different genres and styles while unfolding his talent on the piano.

17/08: Jose Franch-Ballester and Vanessa Benelli Mosell
The festival will keep on surprising us, this time with a classical music recital of piano and clarinet from two internationally renowned artists, the Spanish clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester and the Italian pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell.

20/08: Human Touch
One of the most known jazz bands with winning personality and style, Human Touch will be the protagonists of Saturday night, August 20th. The famous artist David Lynch (saxophone & flute), Stavros Lantsias (piano & keyboards) and Giotis Kiourtsoglou (electric base), all musicians with their own special identity, will try to captivate the audience with their direct and communicative music while creating images and strong emotions.

23/08: Penny & The Swingin' Cats
"Penny & The Swingin' Cats" will be the final curtain call of the festival on Tuesday, August 23rd. Their music will drift the audience in a swing party with soul-funk songs and others from past decades.
