Location: Fira

Fanari Restaurant, located on a cliff side overlooking the sea boasts some splendid views of Santorini caldera and the sunset, which the island is famous for. The menu includes original Greek specialties prepared from locally available ingredients, including a wide choice of seafood as well as vegetables and fruit that are well adapted to the volcanic ecosystem of Santorini.

While barbecued meats and a great choice of seafood dishes make up the popular dishes on the menu, a typical Greek meal at the Fanari comprises a Greek salad, tomato balls, white eggplant with cheese and basil, and moussaka, with a main dish of chicken lemonato or soutzoukakia, with rice and fried potatoes. The meal is rounded out by the traditional baklava. The Fanari also has a wide choice of wines, including white dry, red dry, rose dry, vinsanto and retsina.

    Superb food
The most spectacular thing in Fanari was the view but the food was also excellent. We started off with some local wine "Nychteri" and followed it up with the sweet Vinsanto. Our menu consisted of eggplant and tomato with Greek cheese, along with the mousaka and the lamb roast. The lamb roast was so soft and wel-cooked, the best I have eaten in Greece. Our experience was all the more amazing when we saw a parade of donkeys. The service is courteous and the food is excellent, the view so great that you really don’t need anything more. The best time to go there is around 7.30 pm local time or at sunset. The sunset is among the most spectacular in the world.
