Santorini National Airport is one of the few available in the Cyclades and probably the busiest one, especially during the high season, from Spring to Autumn.
It is located on the eastern side of the island, in the area of Monolithos and around 6 km southeast of Fira and 6 km from the main ferry port (Athinios) that serves ferries to many Greek islands (Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and more).
The travel distance between the airport and pretty much any location on the island is approximately 10-20 minutes by car.
It was constructed in 1976 with a traditional Cycladic design, while the implementation of a renovation project began in 2017.
It is served by domestic flights from Athens and Thessaloniki but also direct flights from European countries such as UK, Germany, France and more.
Flights & Helicopters
The airport of Santorini receives scheduled flights from numerous other countries during the high season, as well as from other places in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion).
In addition to the scheduled airline flights, it also receives private jets, helicopters, smaller aircrafts and other charter flights from Greece and other countries.
Departing at Santorini Airport, it is also possible to fly to other Cycladic islands with one one stop in Athens.
