Octopus Sea Trips in Paros
Octopus Sea Trips (O.S.T.), an affiliate organization of the Aegean Diving College, has its base in Paros and offers a host of educational and adventure programs for children, individuals, families and schools, designed to explore the marine eco system of the Aegean. There are programs that range from half-day to week-long programs that run through the year and these allow you to explore sea life and participate in environmental activities over the weekend or right through your vacation.
Chief diving instructor Peter Nicolaides, an Oceanographer-Biologist and Offshore Engineer, has sailed with the eminent explorer, Jacques-Yves Cousteau on the Calypso for the excavation of the wreck of Antikythira and the filming of the Brittanic wreck. Nicolaides has also been on the team that led the National Geographic Foundation expeditions and has been actively involved in Marine Environmental Education Programs and University level Oceanographic Field-Studies.
The sea excursion offered by the center takes guests on exciting boat rides to visit some of the deserted beaches on nearby islands, where they can snorkel, swim and dive. The first package for the passionate divers includes a 5-day program called Discover Aegean Sea Life. This program includes snorkeling in the shallows, sea excursions with free diving or snorkeling, a Discover Scuba Diving Course in shallow water, and lastly, a night snorkeling trip with campfire.
There are also programs set according to PADI and CMAS standards. These courses teach the basics of Scuba Diving and are tailored for all ages and needs, including one for children with special needs. If you are a certified diver, a highly experienced marine scientist, archaeologist or naturalist will introduce you to the Aegean Sea ecosystems and you will have the unique opportunity to explorie some of the most intriguing spots in the Aegean.
