One of the oldest restaurants in Parikia, the Hibiscus Restaurant is easily identifiable by the stately Ficus tree that shades the terrace. A sea breeze from the seaport cools the veranda and the branches of the enormous ficus are home to flocks of small birds, an amusing diversion for the diners although thankfully the umbrellas on the patio keep any unwanted gifts from above landing in your soup.
The brothers Alexandros and Antonis have run this local establishment since the 1980s although the restaurant first opened in the 1960s. Hibiscus Restaurant is a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere with an exquisite menu of local delicacies. A meat at Hibiscus Restaurant combines the best of the experienced and friendly staff with the finest of the local dishes.
The basket of focaccia bread to start the meal is so good it may fill you up so be warned. Hibiscus prepares a selection of pizzas with a thin light crust. An aubergine salad might seem like an odd appetizer, but the treatment of this meaty textured vegetable renders it tangy and delicious. Aubergine parmesan, a stuffed eggplant with parmesan cheese is equally as surprising, but the real piece de resistance of the Hibiscus Restaurant menu is the Chicken in Feta Sauce. A subtle and creamy cheese sauce perfectly complements the juicy roast chicken and will have you coming back for more.
The restaurant is a family secret so don’t bother asking for it. All food at Hibiscus is cooked in a wood-burning oven using only the wood of pruned olive trees. The signature flavor of the olive smoke infuses the meat dishes, all served in individual ceramic pots and gives the pizzas an extra layer of flavor. The tender and savory lamb and veal roasts are mouth-wateringly delicious, especially when combined with the potato au gratin, fresh slices of potato heavy laden with melted cheese.
The traditional flavors of the home cooked meals, baked in a wood-burning oven and served with homey and informal grace make Hibiscus Restaurant your home away from home in Parikia. Available for free delivery anywhere in Paroikia, the Hibiscus Restaurant is a fixture of Greek comfort food and savory delicious recipes.
