Naxos Moutsouna

General information

Moutsouna in Naxos is a small fishing village on the eastern coastline, possessing two small beaches.
At the small rocky jetty of Moutsouna, many traditional wooden fishing boats (kaikia) moor in summer and gift visitors picturesque scenery.

The quay was used for transferring emery (smirida) stones. There, it was loaded in boats and transported around the world. Today, the mechanism is intact; therefore, guests can admire the - now rusty - emery airlift tower, cranes, and rails that were used to transport the stones from the mines.

On the right of the quaint wharf lies a sandy beach to enjoy some relaxing moments. At the water's edge, a narrow sea path leads to the adjacent beach, which is practically the same cove. The enchanting bay boasts crystal clear shallow waters and fine golden sand.
Three seaside taverns serve delicious dishes of Greek cuisine, with fish and seafood dishes usually featuring the day's catch.

The wider region is dotted by beautiful secluded beaches with azure waters, such as AzalasPsili Ammos, Klidos, and Ligaridia.

Small village nice food nice people
Moutsouna is beyond small. It looks more like a model. Miniature port, one boat, few restaurants... But the food was very, very awesome and the hosts pleasant and funny. Complete stripe of restaurants is like a small, funny village.
As for Moutsouna beach, there is no beach there. It's literally two square meters of sand next to restaurant chairs, so it's not really a place to swim. :)
