Naxos Vallindras Distillery

Location: Halki
Don't miss: Museums guide (free admission dates and other useful info)

In the heart of Halki village, the old capital of Naxos, lies a small distillery called the Vallindras Distillery.
It mainly functions as a museum with kitron products available for purchase.

The distillery was established in 1896 and was managed by the Vallindras family.
It used to produce the signature liqueur of the island, kitron, a sort of yellow drink from a fruit a bit less bitter than lemon. The spirit is traditional of Naxos and was distributed all over Greece.

In this small but interesting museum, you can admire traditional items, machinery, and tools used for the distillation process.
Most machines used to work with fire. Some were even brought from abroad.
You will also notice awards for the kitron of this distillery and old furniture from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

You will also have the opportunity to taste the liqueur and also buy bottles as Kitron is still produced today.
