Plaka Watersports in Naxos
Located at the beautiful, long and sandy Plaka beach, in west Naxos, the Plaka Water Sports provides an ideal setting for all levels of windsurfers. The strong summer winds (meltemi), a trademark of the Cyclades, blowing in from the north in the morning reaches maximum force around noon and withdraws in the afternoon providing scope for surfing all throughout summer. Owing to a natural structure of the seabed, the initial stretch of the beach has flat and calm waters even when strong winds prevail, making it a perfect site for beginners, who can even dare to venture out on their own.
Beyond this point, however, there is a steady wind and this is more suited for freestyle and slalom. Further offshore, the wind is strong allowing for some swell.
On days when the wind is in a pretty benevolent mood, wind surfing takes precedence over all other sports. But that is not to say that all action grinds to a halt on windless days. Vacationers can choose from a great variety of water sporting options, including wakeboarding, waterskiing, canoeing, sailing, banana and tubes on windless days.
The station also offers equipment rental, parking convenience, and a stringent safety system to make your holiday as trouble free as possible. The center is easily accessible (at a short distance from Naxos port and airport), and numerous hotels, restaurants, beach bars and supermarkets surround the station, making it convenient for the vacationers
