Megali Ammos Mykonos: Megali Ammos is the closest beach to Mykonos Town, located within walking distance of 600 meters south. The name Megali Ammos means large sand and it is a quiet beach where only few people come, mainly due to the frequent school excursions in this place and the fact that next to the beach is the main road. The beach has no umbrellas due to the strong winds. It is a good place to relax on the sand or just take a walk along the shore. There are a few hotels and apartments and a small traditional tavern just a few steps from the seashore.
There are many different ways to get to Megali Ammos from any location on the island.
Airport to Megali Ammos: 2.5 km / 1.5 miles | New Port to Megali Ammos: 4 km / 2.4 miles | Town to Megali Ammos: 1.3 km / 0.8 miles
Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked Mykonos transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from the port, airport or your hotel. Alternatively, there’s the option of arranging a pickup by a local driver directly at the following numbers: 0030 694 559 7854, 0030 22890 22400 or book your taxi online.
Car rental: Τhere’s the option of renting a car in Mykonos with as little as 10 euros per day and pick it up directly from the airport, port or your hotel. Using a car rental allows visitors to discover Megali Ammos beach and many other places of interest in Mykonos at their own pace.
Public transfers: Note that there are two central bus stations in Mykonos town: Fabrika and Old Port. There are bus connections between these bus stations and the most areas of the island. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
From Mykonos airport to Megali Ammos: There’s a bus station outside the airport’s main terminal building. The bus route Airport > New Port (approximately every 1.5 hours) takes visitors to Fabrika central station (second stop). From Fabrika, Megali Ammos beach is a 7-minute walk away.
From Mykonos new port (in Tourlos) to Megali Ammos: The bus station is located at the new port of Mykonos, a 3-minute walk away from the passenger disembarkation area. From there, visitors who have arrived by ferry to Mykonos can take the bus route New Port > Old Port (approximately every 30 minutes) and get off at the terminal. From Old Port, Megali Ammos is a 20-minute walk away.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop in every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination, so that he makes a stop there.
This Cycladic-style hotel is situated right over Megali Ammos Beach in Mykonos, a short walk from the scenic town centre where guests will find numerous restaurants, bars, shops and a bus station. Breakfast is served in the dining room that offers views of the sea, the island of Delos and Mykonos Town. Mykonos Airport is approximately 2.5 km from the hotel.
In the sandy, unique beach of Megali Ammos, ideal for windsurfing, is Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge hotel in Mykonos. Very close to the Town of Mykonos, Bill & Coo Boutique Hotel offers luxury suites with amazing Aegean views. The elegantly decorated rooms are all appointed with A/C, wi-fi, LCD TV, electronic safe, toiletries, bathrobes and hairdryer. A friendly and relaxing ambiance is provided in the suites, which feature a private sea view veranda.
