You can travel to Milos by ferry from Athens and from several islands, like Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros and Serifos.
Ferries to Milos depart from the port of Piraeus throughout the year. However, the frequency of itineraries increases in summer. A conventional ferry departing from the port of Lavrio is available year-round, too. Its tickets are the cheapest available, but it takes around 15 hours to reach the island.
Many ferry routes connect Milos with other islands of the Cyclades and Crete.
Most individuals visiting the island start their trip from Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Serifos and Heraklion (Crete).

From Athens

The Airport of Milos is national and only receives domestic flights from the International Airport of Athens. Hence, taking a flight from Athens is the only way to reach the island via plane.
The airport is located around 10km away from Plaka (the island's capital) and 5km away from Adamas (the island's main port). You can reach the airport by bus, car, or taxi.
Note: You can now fly from Athens to Milos with a helicopter transfer!

Starting from another island, the ferry is the way to reach Milos directly. Flights to Milos from the airports of the other Cycladic islands (Santorini, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos) are not available. Hence, if you plan on traveling to the island by plane, remember that a stop at Athens is needed.
