Efforts to develop therapeutic tourism
• Category: News
The mayor of Kythnos and the MP of Cyclades, Giannis Vroutsis, are asking the government to improve the facilities for therapeutic tourism on Kythnos island, so that the area of Loutra will be turned into a new therapeutic destination. In fact, Kythnos is known since the ancient times for its important therapeutic springs, particularly in Loutra village, on the northern side of the island, where the hot water is unfortunately left to pour into the sea today.
As the local authorities stress out, over the last years there is an impressive development of therapeutic tourism globally and Kythnos can get much profited by this, with the proper exploitation of the spa springs that remain today abandoned. Such efforts may also contribute in the development of winter tourism on the island and will certainly give life to this remote island.
