Kythnos Geography

An authentic Cycladic island, Kythnos Greece lays on the north-western side of the complex, between Kea and Serifos, and only two and a half hours ferry ride from Piraeus, Athens. The most characteristic geographical feature of Kythnos is the thermal baths on the northern side of the island, in the village of Loutra, which means baths in Greek. These baths, strongly connected to the local history, are famous since ancient times for its healing powers over many diseases.

The geography of Kythnos distinguishes for its golden beaches, the low hills, the seaside villages, and the wild landscape. The highest peak on Kythnos is Kakovoulo, at an altitude of 355 m, on the northwestern side of the island. The beaches of Kythnos are surrounded by wild landscape and all of them offer privacy and quiet. The most famous beach is Kolona, a narrow piece of land that goes into the sea formating two different beaches. Equally famous are the beaches of Gaidouromandra, Kanala, and Kalo Livadi.
