General information

Ammoudaki Beach is actually a small cove. It is found on the western coast of Kythnos and more specifically in the settlement of Kanala, between Megali Ammos Beach and Antonides Beach.

As it is a cove, the beach is protected from the wind and it is very rare to encounter waves there. The shore is sandy with some gravel, while the waters are crystal-clear and not very deep. Tamarisks, common on Kythnos’s beaches, offer shade below their branches to the visitors, as no equipment or amenities are available.

To reach Ammoudaki, you need to descend a few stone steps, which are not steep though. The place is ideal for families with children, as well as couples. Yet, due to its small size, we believe that it is safer to go there as early as possible to ensure a spot to sit.

Lastly, the church of Panagia Kanala is situated at a distance of only 300 meters, hence visitors can combine a visit to the number-one religious attraction on the island with a visit to the tiny and serene Ammoudaki.
