The Fisherman’s Festival 2019

Koufonisia, the small cluster of islands to the south of Naxos, supports its economy mainly on fishing and recently on tourism, so it is perfectly natural to expect a day of celebration dedicated to the farmers of the... sea. 
That is why the locals organize a Fisherman Festival on their island to celebrate fishing. It has been established that the Fisherman’s Festival will be celebrated on the Saturday before Pentecost Monday. In 2019 the Festival is on 15/06/19.
The locals cook fish soup, a delicious local recipe, and offer it to the attendants. Some others make grilled fish in kiosks along the waterfront of Chora. Wine, rakomelo and tsipouro are also offered. Dancing with traditional music starts at sunset at the marina and continues until the early hours.
