Feast of the Assumption Koufonisia 2019

Time to celebrate the Greek way!
The feast of the Assumption is a major feast throughout Greece and especially in Cyclades and Koufonisia has a different character.
The morning of August 15th, Skopelitis ferry transfers the visitors to Kato Koufonisi, where a sacred liturgy is taking place in the church located in the mole. After the liturgy, local delicacies like lamb and fresh fish from the local fishermen are served to the visitors.
The feast continues in Pano Koufonisi, with traditional music. On their return, locals do races with their boats, until someone reaches first the port of Pano Koufonisi. Like in every Greek traditional feast, the visitors dance and have fun until the next morning!
