Feast of the Assumption in Koufonisia

The morning of August 15th, Skopelitis ferry transfers the visitors to Kato Koufonisi, where a sacred liturgy is taking place in the church located in the mole. This is the only day of the year that the ship is serving this route.
After the liturgy, local delicacies like lamb and fresh fish from the local fishermen are served to the visitors.
The feast, later on, continues in Pano Koufonisi, with traditional music. On their return, locals do races with their boats, until someone reaches the port of Pano Koufonisi first.
Like in every Greek traditional feast, the visitors dance and have fun until the first morning hours!
