The Monastery of Agia Anna in Kea: The Byzantine Monastery of Agia Anna lies on top of a hill east of Ioulida town. It was built in the 16th century and played a significant role during the following century as it was a prominent monastery for Kea island. However, today it is abandoned and its best-preserved part is the church, which has been restored many times. Unfortunately, the rest of the monastery lies in ruins.
The monastery had three naves, which lead to three sanctums with three respective chancel tables supported by parts of ancient columns. Those indicate the existence of an ancient temple on the site, now occupied by the monastery. Along with the Monastery of Agia Anna, you can also visit the Monastery of Panagia Kastriani, situated a few kilometers away.
