Ios is world-known for its party scene and active nightlife. In terms of scenery, a plethora of churches and sandy beaches with dazzling waters adorn it. Every year, the island honors all the saints that the churches and monasteries are dedicated to, with religious feasts and local celebrations taking place.

June 23th-24th
The birth of Agios Ioannis (Saint John) is celebrated in the area of Pyrgos.

August 15th
The Dormition of the Virgin Mary on August 15th is one of the most important celebrations in Greece. On that day, there is a procession of the icon of the Virgin Mary in Chora. Later on, a traditional feast is held with music, food, and dancing until the late hours. The festival takes place in the island's most famous church, Panagia Gremiotissa.

August 29th
The feast of Agios Ioannis (Saint John) is celebrated in Kalamos and Psathi. During the festival, meat soup and traditional bean soup are served, accompanied by wine and traditional music.

September 7th-8th
The birth of the Virgin Mary is celebrated in Saint Theodoti and Paleokastro.
