Ios Plakoto beach: Plakoto is located 13km north of Chora and can be reached via a track road or by boat from the sea. In Plakoto, you will find no facilities thus it is important to take supplies with you. Found at the northernmost end of the island, Plakoto has a long sandy coast and crystal water.
The seabed has few pebbles so extra attention is required. Frequently the beach is affected by strong summer winds. This combined to the long distance from Chora makes Plakoto a secluded beach and it is rarely visited. On the hill above Plakoto, an ancient tomb has been found, which is believed to be the tomb of Homer.
