Andros Batsi

Information about Batsi

Batsi Village Andros: Batsi is also part of the municipality of Hydroussa. It is located 7 kilometers away from Gavrio, separated from it by beautiful sandy beaches, small picturesque harbors and hidden coves.

Like Gavrio, Batsi used to be a fishing village. It has now become the touristiest place of Andros and is therefore the major resort of the island. Despite its touristy character, Batsi has kept a traditional and picturesque charm.

This attractive town has little red-tiled colored houses which have been built amphitheatrically, and encircles a bay with a lovely fishing harbor at its south end and a nice sandy beach at the other side. The town is cosmopolitan but maintaining the local colors, and a main destination for the visitors.

It therefore has all the expected and necessary comforts for nice holidays: taverns, ouzo shops, night-time entertainment, tourist agencies, hotels, room for rent, post office, bank, car and motorbike hiring agencies and many shops.

    The place to stay
In my opinion the best place to sleep in Andros is Batsi. It is about 7km from Gavrio port, so taxi to/from port is cheap. In Batsi you will find everything the tourist may need (rent a car/moto, laundry, restaurants, ...) All other places you can visit in 1 day and there is no need to sleep there. I stayed in Chora for 2 nights, but it was waste of time & money. After 2 nights I moved to Batsi.

    Fun nightlife
Batsi is where most tourists on Andros go. Nice village, pretty small but has all what you may need in your vacation. Many luxury hotels there and great beaches nearby, like Agia Marina and Stivari. Prices good, compared to other Greek islands, such as Mykonos and Ios, which I found too expensive. The nightlife is fine. A lot of bars that stay overnight and fun people, especially the tourists from Athens, who come to Andros to spend the weekend.
