Location: Katakilos

The Waterfalls of Andros, Cyclades: In eastern Batsi are the picturesque villages of Katakilos as well as Pano Katakilos located on both sides of a ravine. Due to the presence of the springs that are found in this part of the island, there are many gushing waterfalls as well. The principal one is Remata and it is conspicuous by its dense foliage.

The road to the Remata waterfall has hairpin bends at every corner and it extends all the way to the hilltop from where a recently constructed highway leads all the way to Chora. Many visitors decide to spend time on the mountainous road rather than going downhill to Kalatakilos.

Time permitting, an interesting site worth visiting is the monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. It is renowned for its geometric design pattern and in the past used to be the island's most popular monastery. A visit to the monastery reveals priceless wall paintings dating back to the 14th century BC.
