Amorgos Plakes beach

General information

The remote Plakes Beach in Amorgos is located in Katapola's wider region. It is one of the most unique beaches of Amorgos as it is covered by large stone slabs, to which it owes its name as the Greek word for slabs is plakes. It is a hidden bay surrounded by imposing rocky cliffs and deep transparent waters. 

The beach is protected from the winds and this combination makes it a good diving site to explore the rich marine life in the depths of the sea. However, due to the fact that swimmers dive directly into the deep waters, the beach is not recommended for small children and for people who do not know how to swim well.

Plakes can be reached on foot or via a water taxi from Katapola.
