General information

The small and nondescript islet of Nikouria is an uninhabited land mass, which is situated across Agios Pavlos beach and overlooks Aegiali Bay. It was well-known for its production of coins in antiquity and was later used as a shelter for lepers from the mainland.

The island is home to three magnificent pristine beaches. Among these shores, Nikouria Beach in Amorgos is a rather long coast, while the other two are comparatively smaller in size. The sea is clear, which makes it ideal for snorkeling, although the water is somewhat cold.

The beaches on the islet are sandy and scattered rocks can be seen standing along their expanse. These beaches can only be reached via water taxis departing from Agios Pavlos beach. The crossing lasts about 10 minutes.

The islet lacks even the basic tourist amenities, like restaurants and cafes. It is advisable to carry one's own food and drinks while visiting this place.
