Rethymno Atsipopoulo

General information

Atsipopoulo is a lovely village only 5 km from the town center. Located close to Chania, this charming village radiates a unique vintage atmosphere, reminiscing of Venetian times.

The houses in Atsipopoulo were constructed close to one another to form a fortification wall to protect the inhabitants from pirates and other enemies. This traditional city structure style has been preserved until today, as most of the houses have not been demolished but renovated. In fact, some of them have been turned into villas and hotels to accommodate the visitors coming to the place every summer.

Atsipopoulo is not very touristically developed, but due to its proximity to Rethymno Town, you can easily access various services and amenities, as well as some pleasant beaches with crystalline waters.
