Saint Nicholas Church is located at Kotsifou Gorge, inside a rock cavity that you come across while crossing the road. The imposing gap in the mountain where the chapel is housed was formed by a volcanic eruption.
The building is made out of stone following a Byzantine style, and, on the inside, you will find a few icons of Saint Nicholas, the Virgin Mary, and other saints.
It’s a small yet impressive sight that is worth a visit during your next trip to Crete. The temple is always open for the public to visit.
