stheophilus 20 Aug 2012An unforgettable placeWe' ve travelled to Bali in August 2012 as 2 couples from Romania and US and stayed at Bali Star Hotel.
Bali is a quaint and quiet village with several souvenir shops, mini markets, tavernas and hotels. It is in a fairly good location, about half hour from Heraklion and about half hour from Rethymnon. After flying into Heraklion, this location enabled us to travel by rental car to see several places on the Island (Rethymno, Chania, Agios Nikolaos, Vai).
The beach at Bali is sandy and very cozy. It is set in a golf setting, embraced by sheltering, imposing mountains on both sides, creating stunningly beautiful scenery. The water was nice, warm, calm, and clear. The beach is clean, with umbrellas and chairs.
There are several tavernas on the beach with excellent food. The beach bar Mambo has awesome views, staff, drinks. With wonderful people, wonderful beaches, wonderful food, nice accommodation, this place was a great destination for an excellent vacation.
Bali is ideal for people who look for relaxation in a quiet, beautiful place, or for people who want to use it as a base to see some of the other sights on the island. -
tana 23 Dec 2009Try some calm days offOur vacations in Bali Crete were beautiful and relaxing, just what we needed this summer. We didn't want to walk through the forest or climb up fortresses or drive all around Greece to see as much as possible. We needed just some calm days off and Crete is always a place to give us peace. It was our first time in Bali, actually a last-minute choice. Our original plan was Elounda but thought why not try a more unknown place?
The hotels were mostly small and family, which is an adorable thing in Greece. The beach is small but in June it wouldn't get crowded any time of the day. I loved walking barefoot on the beach at night and see the lights of the tavern. It was also the first time to try night swim and I can tell you this is a very romantic experience. Choose a night with moonlight! And make sure you know the beach well to avoid unpleasant surprises (rocks, urchins, etc). There was frequent buses to Heraklion and Rethymno from Bali and the good thing is that it is in the middle of the distance, so both cities are accessible in less than an hour.
