General information

Aliki Beach is located on the northern coast of Crete, near the village of Sises, about 41 km east of Rethymno Town. This is one of the most secluded beaches on the island, featuring a golden shore and striking blue waters. The area is susceptible to the strong northern winds and the waters can get a bit choppy. The beach is otherwise ideal for spending some moments of relaxation, with the handful of tamarisk trees providing some much-needed natural shade.

Visitors may find a few sunbeds and umbrellas to rent on one side of the beach. Just behind the sunbeds lies a restaurant serving delectable snacks, authentic Mediterranean meals, and refreshing drinks. On the west side of the beach lie the ruins of an old building that add a unique historical charm to the area. Meanwhile, about 300 meters behind the shore one can visit the small chapel of Saint Nicholas. While the church is semi-dilapidated it houses a pristine but humble wooden iconostasis.

Access to the beach is relatively easy, with a well-maintained asphalt road leading directly to its shore. Visitors can park their vehicles at the free parking area situated just behind the beach and next to the restaurant. While in the area, you can also visit the beautiful Almirida Beach, which remains completely unorganized, offering a more serene environment amidst an untamed natural landscape.
