Riding Academy Of Crete in Heraklion

The Riding Academy of Crete (Ippikos Riding Club) is the largest equestrian center in Crete and one of the biggest in Greece. Located 5km from the international airport of Heraklion and only 400m from the sandy beach of Karteros, the center is also very close to archaeological sites as well as to the city center.

The center exists since 1979 and the horses are bred and trained there. The team of 5 instructors specializes in a variety of programs, such as riding lessons for beginners and experienced, dressage and jumping, elegant riding, horse riding treks around the region, family tours, therapeutic riding, horse whispering programs, and more.

Visitors can combine their equestrian holidays with unique visits to close sights, such as the Knossos Minoan Palace, the Archaeological Museum and the village of Archanes. Programs can also include wine tasting, Cretan diet & cooking, Greek dancing lessons, etc. In addition, at the stone theatre called Minoiki Avli of the establishment, a wonderful performance takes place. A team of 15 dancers performs under the stars by the stables at a breathtaking dancing performance where the life of the Minoans in the Palace of Knossos is brought to today. This cultural experience is already a highlight for Crete.
