Recipe of Onion Pies

This Cretan recipe started in the area of Heraklion and today it has been popular all around Greece. Obviously perfect for onion-lovers!

- 1 kilo of mashed potatoes
- 4 big onions julienne
- 1 egg
- 2 cups of flour
- salt and pepper
- frying oil

Put the onions and the potatoes julienne into a bowl. Add the egg, the flour, the salt and the pepper and blend well. Cut the whole mixture into small pieces with a spoon and fry them both sides. Once they are fried, put the pies into a bowl with absorbent paper to strain. They are served either cold or hot.
