A 28-year-old British man is fighting for his life in the University Hospital of Heraklion since last night, after he was attacked by 13 men, also British, in the region of Malia, Heraklion Crete. The man was entertaining in a bar in Malia and, according to witnesses, everything started when he flirted a British girl from another group. The boyfriend of the girl was apparently offended and started a quarrel with the 28 year old man. Policemen patrolling the area interfered and stopped the quarrel, however it seems that the incident was not over.
At 2.30 am, while the British man was returning to his hotel, 13 British people who had obviously followed him, attacked the young man in absolute rage, punched him severely on his head and body and hit him with broken bottles of beer. Finally, they left, leaving him unconsciously. The unfortunate man was found after a while by local people and he was transferred to the University Hospital of Heraklion, while doctors say that his condition is much crucial. The police managed to arrest five out of the 13 malefactors and they would be sent to the District Attorney of Heraklion today.
This incident has once more raised the anger of the locals, who are constantly asking for protection against the drunken British tourists that flush the streets of Malia every night.
