Heraklion Potamos beach

General information

Potamos Beach is a long shore, covered in golden sand. Its name means "river" and originates from the small river flowing in the area. Even though it is located right in front of Malia, about 37 km east of Heraklion Town, it does not get as crowded as the busy Malia Beach. It is well organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, and showers, boasting crystalline blue waters. You can also relax under the natural shade provided by the tamarisk trees adorning the coast.
