General information

Panagia Beach is a pebbly shore that lies 24 kilometers northwest of Heraklion Town, on a coastline indented by tiny coves. The sea is usually calm, as it is hardly ever affected by the eastern winds. The beautiful azure waters are initially shallow but then deepen abruptly. The beach is not organized and, therefore provides no amenities.

Being close to the Theseus private settlement, Panagia Beach is somewhat difficult to access. It can be reached either by boat from the nearby Pantanassa or on foot, via a strenuous path branching off the Hereklion-Rethymno highway before the exit to Ligaria. A shorter, smoother trail starts from the neighboring Theseus Beach, but entry is restricted as it passes through private property.
