General information

Agios Antonios, or Prasina Nera (Green Waters), is a rockbound, secluded shore located 71 km south of Heraklion Town. It was named after the Cave of Agios Antonios which can be found in the area, and houses a church dedicated to Saint Antonios. Its second name derives from the color of its waters, which boast lovely shades of blue and green.

The beach is not organized, and there is no access to tourist facilities within walking distance so you will have to get there prepared with your own things. Nonetheless, you can still benefit from the shade offered by the large rocks surrounding the area.

The area can only be reached through the pathway connecting Agios Ioannis with Koudoumas. On your way there, don’t forget to visit the Agios Antonios Cave with the church of the same name. In addition, access to the beach is difficult and only possible through swimming, so you need to be careful.
