Jeep Adveture At A Shepherd's Hut On Lefka Ori Mountain
This is a guided jeep safari tour, with door to door pick up, where you will have the chance to life in Cretan village, olives pick, olive oil production, Cretan wine, honey production, distillation of “raki” - “tsikoudia”, and Cretan cuisine, culture, history and tradition. You will also learn about Cretan revolution which started in 1905 at Therisso village from Eleftherios Venizelos.
After picking you up form your hotel our adventure starts, our expert drivers will take you through olive, orange, lemon and avocado groves. A few minutes later the urban landscape is far away!
Our first stop is Venizelos Gorge. Admire the wild scenery of Topolia gorge and take plenty of photos of wild landscape nature.
Our next stop is the village Therisso. A picturesque village, a turning point in the local history. The Cretan revolution started right here, in 1905!
Leaving Therisso, we go on an off road route is a challenge worth’s living. Half an hour later we reach the shepherd’s hut the traditional “Mitato”, where shepherds live and produce cheese following hundred years old techniques.
Returning from the Shepherd’s Hut we stop at Therisso for lunch. You will get the chance to enjoy a taste of Greek cuisine, wine and hospitality.
At our last stop at Ayia Lake you will enjoy a cup of coffee or a fresh orange juice by the small lake with amazing view. Driving through olive, orange and lemon groves again we will be back to the starting point.
Remember to inform us if you or another member of your group is vegetarian or if there is a food allergy. If you do, we may arrange a different menu for them.
Must be able to step in and out of a 7 seater Mitsubishi Pajero jeep. This adventures is not recommended for people with mobility or kinetic problems, fear of heights, back issues, overweight that can’t afford to have a normal seat in car or can’t access in a 3rd row of seats in a Mitsubishi Pajero Jeep , nor people taller than 190cm (6,23 ft) for comfort reasons to the 3rd row of seats.
This is a small group tour of max 6 guests per guide and min 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children participants. Less than that cannot book this tour.
What to bring:
Sunglasses, hat, sun cream, a jacket (depending on the weather conditions). Sport shoes or sandals recommended.
