Regatta for 100 years since union of Crete

A different series of boat races will take place in October 2013 in Crete. This is the Regatta of the Cretan Union Cup that is organized by the local nautical clubs of Crete and the Region of Crete for the celebration of 100 years since the union of Crete with Greece. In particular, this international sailing race will cross the northern coasts of the island from October 14th to 20th, 2013. The departure point is from the port of Chania, while there will be stops in the other largest towns: Rethymno, Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos.

Many parallel events of historical and cultural interest will also take place, from traditional dancing nights to organized visits to museums. As the chairperson of this event noted, through this reggata you will get to know the Island of proud people, who with bravery resisted and continue to resist any unfavorable circumstances, thus safeguarding their Greek identity.
