A large wine celebration is taking place this weekend in Chania. The Wineries of Crete invite people to their annual exhibition, Oinokritika, on March 21st and 22nd, 2015. The exhibition, which is organized for the 8th year in a row, will take place at the Center for Mediterranean Architecture (KAM) in Chania Town, at the Old Venetian Port.
Wineries from the entire island of Crete will showcase their wines, while visitors will have the chance to taste new and older wines, talk to the winemakers and discover more interesting things about winemaking in Crete. Some of the Cretan wine varieties that will be available at the exhibition are Vilana, Malvazia di Candia White, Liatiko Red, and more.
The name of the exhibition Oinokritika comes from the Greek word for wine (oinos) and the Greek word for Cretan (kritikos).
