General information

Kalathas Beach is a lovely shore located in a small bay on the Akrotiri peninsula, around 10 km northeast of Chania Town. It’s a long coast that extends to 300 meters and is preferred by both locals and tourists for its untouched natural beauty.

The coast is covered in fine, golden sand, and is organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, and showers. The dazzling azure waters are crystal-clear and shallow, which makes them ideal for children. On the beach, you will see a cafe and a canteen where you can get something to eat or drink. Nearby you will also find some small hotels and a parking space.

If you prefer a less crowded area, you can go a little further where a secluded, sandy, unorganized beach lies. You can also swim to the small island that’s situated about 100 meters from the coast.
