Actually, as there are many economy flights from various European airports directly to Santorini, many visitors come for a weekend. Others split their holidays between islands, spending a couple of days in Santorini and some days in other destinations.

Here are the top things to see and do in Santorini, so that you get to see everything in a couple of days.

2 days in Santorini: what to see and do

Start the first of your 2 days in Santorini with a visit to its spectacular volcano. Morning boats depart from Fira daily and offer visitors a tour to the caldera and the hot springs. This boat tour to the volcano is the perfect way to begin exploring the island.

Taking a more educational turn, your day may continue with an acquaintance with the ancient Minoan civilization at Akrotiri archaeological site. The village was entirely covered with lava ashes during the large Thera eruption around 1,500 BC and was amazingly excavated almost intact.

Really close to Ancient Akrotiri is the famous Red Beach. The reddish volcanic sand and the steep cliffs compose a stunning setting. In the evening, enjoy the lounge nightlife with a drink in Fira, the capital of the island.

2nd Day in Santorini

How to spend 2 days in Santorini

Make the most out of your second day relaxing at one of the most popular beaches, Kamari. 2 days in Santorini are certainly not a long time for beach vacations, but they are enough for experiencing the true beauty of the island, which lies on the red rocky landscape and marvelous sunset. A great place to admire the view is the Santo Wines winery, which stands on the vineyard at the edge of the caldera right over the Aegean Sea.

Surely a visit to Santorini is not complete without visiting Oia, a picturesque settlement famous for the most romantic sunset in the world. A nice alternative to see the sunset is to take a sunset boat cruise from the old port of Fira.

To make your transfer around Santorini easier, you are suggested to rent a car and see everything at your own pace, without having to rely on packed public transportation.
